Dad and I were arguing because he likes the new ones better but I wouldn't have a new one and would take a '68 Shelby any day. What's your opinion?

I think you mean the 67 shelby GT500. But yes old muscle is much better. There is a difference between muscle and muscle/luxury.

Considering the safety and technology built into today's cars, I'd take the new over the old in a heartbeat.

While you're trying to set your points and timing, and find a seatbelt, I'd be riding along in all of my 21st century comfort, airbags, traction control, anti-lock brakes, and all. And get better gas mileage to boot without further polluting the environment.

Just my take. I agree with dad. But driving that '68 has a cool factor the GT 500 will never have.

I am a "baby boomer" to give you an idea of my age....without giving it......I don't quite run as hard or quick as I used to.....when I go try to go all out...almost always something breaks or goes bad.......I don"t care what I do to keep myself in shape....at some point in time we get so old that nothing we do will ever gets us to being like the old days......why in the world would you want a nearly 40 year old car when it will always require maintenance and cause you headaches and money.....unless you got a lot of it to "blow" for that is what you will be doing......the new Shelby is new and smells new.....plenty of power and with air conditioning.....your 1968 probably had none and an AM radio with FM if you were lucky........why do you think we like "young" women.....because they give us "drive"......the older("68 Shelby) will just break down and be unable to fill our fantasies that we crave that comes with the new!!! GOI YANKEES! STINKIN RED SOX!!

for everyday driving i would take the 2007, but if it was more of a showpiece to drive in the summer, then the '68.

the 68 pure muscle, they have more work put into them because they are classic :)
