there is no easy way to deal with mental illness. it was very good of you to help this person. dont feel sorry for her. just understand the disease. if you are interested in helping her and your friend, learn about it and offer yourself as a sounding board. your friend is faced with some challenges and will need a good friend for support. look into joining a local support group as well. they are very helpful for the patient and the family and friends. good luck.

Schizophrenia-Any of a group of psychotic disorders usually characterized by withdrawal from reality, illogical patterns of thinking, delusions, and hallucinations, and accompanied in varying degrees by other emotional, behavioral, or intellectual disturbances. Schizophrenia is associated with dopamine imbalances in the brain and may have an underlying genetic cause.
Its better to go see a psychiatrist and a doctor who could give medicine to help them. Do the best thing for them and although shes said she has to be there to get better.

You did the best thing by getting her help. I have someone who needs help and he is going along maniacing to everyone he gets in contact with including me-My Christmas present from my daughter and him is not seeing the grandkids. I did nothing wrong. He conjured up delusions about having me arrested and our family put up with it three times before we told him to hit the bricks with his abuse.
She may seem sad but getting her the help is joy. Peace
