The left side of my head hurts and I can't decide if it is a sinus problem and ear ache or a thooth ache. I would like to go to a doctor and get this fixed but which do I see, dentist or doctor. I kind of suspect that the tooth ache is secondary, caused by the ear or sinuses, but would like to hear what you think. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

In addition, it doesn't hurt to brush my teeth and it isn't a tooth that hurts, it is the whole left side of my mouth...upper and lower jaw.

I agree with ash, especially if the pain is isolated to one tooth, if all the teeth hurt or you can't tell where the pain is coming from, it could still be your bite or TMJ. Eat a lite diet for 2 to 3 days and rest the jaw, if it gets better then get checked for tmj or the bite or both. If the pain isolates in one tooth then get it fixed first, your gonna have to anyway, if it is connected to your sinus pain it should get better in three + days. The problem with teeth is pain can be extremely variable, but the general rule of thumb is if it's a tooth it will get worse with no treatment. What throws a wrench in this situation is the patient that takes antibiotics and actually covers up the dental problem before it can be diagnosed. I've seen patent's cover up dental problems for years unknowingly, only to have the problems get worse and harder to fix. A good diet with no food between meals, just water and good hygiene is your best defense.

TMJ possibly? which is the joint of the upper and lower jaw, i tend to get the same feeling if i lay on the left or right side of my face for too long, it usually goes away after a day (or after i take advil or something) and it usually affects my eye too. put your hand on your jaw below your ears and open and close you may find it popping or clicking some, if so its probably TMJ. My opinion...i'd see your dentist.

Trust me, if it was your ear that is hurting you would know.

Teeth have something that is called deferred pain. I could have a problem with a molar on my lower right side but my upper left could hurt. Sometimes the pain just travels to another area.

Go to an ENT specialist first, after consulting your GP. They may send you to a maxillo-facial specialist after that if necessary.
