I don't remember downloading this thing but I can't find the program for the toolbar to remove and I can't uncheck it in XP.

i've had the same problem, and have a solution for you, it worked for me. go to www.affordablecomp.com, it's a local computer repair store, see their software section, download the free editions of : spybot anti-spyware,do the update, also download avg anti-spyware and anti-malware free editions, update and get them to run in full scan mode on your computer, then do a defragmenting run. after this is finished go into your services section and click on the services you want running. if you save these programs to your desktop they will be available when you want to run them. as a matter of routine i regularly use these programs everday in fast or quick scan mode, and do frequent full scans to keep my system clean. note: don't run windows defender at the same time.. also use windows malware software removal tool when you run defender happy computing friend!

You can use a Spyware/Adware remover, sometimes though you need to go into your registry and delete each individual entry that the Spyware made, for this you should download the directions on how to perform that operation according to the name of the Spyware.

It very much sounds like you have some spam that has gotten into your system. I would suggest doing a search on the 'Net for whatever the toolbar is named, doing a system restore to an earlier date (which may not fix the problem), or loading a previous back-up. In any case, good luck.

Can you go to the control panel, click add/remove programs, scroll down through the programs, and remove it?

Also, get an antivirus program and a firewall ASAP!
