Good day. If u have Windows XP Setup CD, U can create partitions before reinstalling windows. Making partitions involves loosing data so i suggest u backup your stuff.

Windows 98 setup cd has a partition feature. Make sure your boot sequence is set so the CD Rom boots forst before the hard drive. Same for the above. Click start computer with cd rom support, The drive letter they gave u eg E:, Just type in E: click enter and type in FDISK and u will get into the partition feature. Laterz.

A floppy boot disc is almost obsolete now days. You do not need one if you are using an windows XP CD to reformat and reinstall provided your hard drive is an ATA.

Could you give some more specifics on your computer and your OS, so I can help you better?

Check for a bootable CD instead. There are images for creating CDs that you can boot your PC from also.

But, if you have your WIndows CD, (and you have to have one to reinstall Windows), just boot off the Windows CD. Let the Windows set up start. Right after you do the F8 to agree, it will offer you the option to partition and format the drive. You do not need a bootable floppy to do it.

Once the patitioning and formating is done, you can let the Windows set up complete.
