This words are called "Onomatopoeias" as in the case of "pffff", they are not used in place of cursing (may be you are looking for something else). Onomatopoeias are " the naming of a thing or action by a vocal imitation of the sound associated with it (as buzz, hiss)" etc. usually sounds like in "pffff"
For all I care you could be a youg writter looking for a way to improve your written language or so, not only a curious person.
So I give you a useful answer. Some others just see the opportunity to sadly enjoy themselves.
