It definitly is. As it is when you introduce any new pet to the house, you always have to monitor the playtime. When I brought my dog into the house years ago, It didnt take long at all for him to be put in his place by the cat. Cats will approach on their own time and I certainly dont reccomend forcing them together, it will only make matters worse. Let the cats be the ones to make the first move, their curiosity overrides any fear they may have for the puppy and unless the pup really gets to the cat, you shouldn't have to worry about clawed swipes. Once your felines warm up to the newest playmate, my only reccomendation is that you clear the path for running and move any valuables you dont want destroyed. My chocolate lab is 11 and he's the biggest cat I have. Even the felines who have come after him rule the dog, he is truly pussie whipped =)

It's possible but that puppy will learn quickly who rules the house! I would keep in a safe area away from the kitties so he isn't get his nose swatted all the time. Don't force them to meet either. The cats will come and investigate and go hide when he gets annoying. Also, make sure the cats don't get jealous! Give everyone attention.
