The core difference of accepting Christ as Savior is totally different. Catholics believe you become saved by obeying the traditions and sarcements of the church, Baptists believe you become saved by faith in Jesus Christ without any works.
Baptist believe Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."
Sorry Dainne C you are totally wrong on that one.

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)
Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.
There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.
A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.
With love in Christ.

the baptist denomination is within the protestant reformation movenment that started with Luther, in the 1500s.
Protestants give main truth authority to Scripture and salvation by faith alone. also they give communion bread and wine
Catholics beleive in the primacy of tradition ahead of scripture, and they only give out the wine to clergy.

The difference is doctrine and customs.
But, the core belief of accepting Christ as Savior is the same.
