My friend and me just pierced each others ears. I did her ear cartlige and her lobe and she did my cartilige twice near to each other. We're both 13 and now kinda worried, will they be ok, is there anything we need to do?

Look I think some of these people are flipping out, it isn't that big of a deal. Yes peircing the cartlige can be painful and it can get infected real easy but if you keep it clean it will be fine. Now you might wanna get real earrings not the cheap ones, cheap ones themselves can infect your ears. If there is two holes close to each other( really close) mybe you should take them out, at least 1. With your parents I uh....... best just be forward with them and tell them now. Well good luck with whatever you choose to do!

P. S. TO: EVERYONE how do you think people peirced their ears back in the day when there were no perfessionals?!?

I have to scold you, that wasn't a good idea. Make sure that someone knows about it so if they get really badly infected you can go to the doctor. You need to make sure that the earrings are for sensitive ears and they have stainless steel. You'll need to clean it twice a day with rubbing alcohol and twist the earrings so they don't grow in place. If the infections get too bad, you'll need to take the earrings out and still treat the area.

Take care of them. Number one, I hope you guys used different needles. Even though you're both 13, how do you know if one or the other doesn't have a blood infection...like HIV? With that aside, as you're probably fine, wash them once a day with antibacterial soap that's unscented and preferably with no added colors. Dab alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on them if they get infected. Keep your dirty mitts off of the piercings...that's how they get infected. And be ready...for some people, cartilidge piercings hurt like hell.

Oh, and if they get gross? Take them out. Save up $20 of Christmas cash and have a professional do it.

You need to not be doing these kind things on your own...
Piercing a fatty area is not too dangerous except for infection. Make sure you wash the area with antibacterial soap often. DO NOT DO YOUR TONG!!!! There are veins and attires in your tong and you could bleed to death. In the future talk with our parents and get it done by a professional and not one of those Mall shops.

I hope you sterlized everything before you pierced. If not then you will more then likely get them infected. I suggest taking salt water baths in the next couple of weeks and soaking your ears in them. You can also get some eucapltus oil and dilute it to put on your ears it is to help with the infects and pus stuff. other oils that help are tea tree and lavendar.

You need to swab with peroxide at least twice a day to keep the holes clean. Keep doing this until the holes appear to be healed. This is very important, to reduce the risk of infection. Hopefully you wont have any problems.

if it isn't turning colors and hurting unbearably your are probably fine. Make sure you get some sea salt it helps new piercings you can purchase a bottle at steel navel called h20 ocean something. You should probably have a piercer look at it and if you detect any signs of infection go to your doctor.

you just need to clean it with alcohol 2 times a day.

don't worry, i did the same thing when i was your age. it was fine! mine never got infected, but the ones i had done professionally did... how ironic!

if you don't like how it looks, then take out the earrings as soon as you come to that conclusion. the holes will close within a few hours when they are fresh piercings.

That wasnt a smart thing to do at all! what kind of needle did you use? a sewing needle?! the professionals use hollow needles. how do you know it was sterilized? did you boil it in hot water or put rubbing allcohol on it?! if so that is NOT sertilizing it. there is still alot od bacteria on it. you shuys could have shatters tour cartilage. i would take it out right away if i were you!. if you keep them in. it could spell alot of trouble for the two of you! very dangerous what you did. just cause they are fine now. doesnt mean they will be in a few days. weeks. or months for that matter! you need to take them out tnad NEVER do that again! here are some risks you are facing by doing it yourself.....

you could get an infection. you probably will since you do not even know the aftercare for piercings nor do seem responsible for taking care of it since you di it yourself...
your cartilage could collapse, permantently disforming your ear for life!
you can get keloids.
you could have an allergic reaction to the jewelry. and im sure you dio not have large enough jewelry to accomidate the swelling

take a look at these sites, take out your piercings. clean them with aftercare pierce solution and never do that again and get it doen by the professional! if you wont take them out them im sure your parents are going to make you.

im sure you guys used this jewelry
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Ear_Piercing_Stud
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Keloid

take them out now! while they are still fresh the holes will close up quickly and do these sea salt soaks till the hole if FULLY closed. and use aftercare pierce solution
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Salt_Soaks

NEVER DO THAT AGAIN! YOU CAN DO SERIOUS INJURY TO THE BOTH OF YOU
cartlage piercings can take up to a year to heal! and probably even longer since you did now know what our doing nor use the right equiptment...

take them out!

do not clean it with hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, or put neosporin or any other oinments on there! they kill the good skin tissue, and take longer to heal and cause infections and iritation if you use them!

ive gotten all of m ine done byt the professional! with NEEDLES and they say in BOLD letters int he middle of the pamphlet for the after care not to use any of those things! dont listen to people who are telling you. you will need to go to a pierce shop or claires or somethign and get aftercare pierce solution!

but you will be alot better off taking them OUT! trust me

your going to have to tell your parents wither way, and im sure they'll scold you!. you arent going to be walking around wiht 2 piercings in your red, swollen cartilage and have them not notice. you sold also keep your hair up in a pony tail if you do nto take them out so no chemicals or dirt get into your piercing......

but i still suggest taking them out before you get an infection, and have your parents yell at you! make a deal with them. if you get good grades in school then have them take you to get it done by a professional!(not peopel in the mall, a tatto.pierce shop) as a reward for your good grades. worked for me...

you will need to do the sea salt soaks when you take out the piercing. otherwise if you do have an infectoin the skin can close up trapping the infection(and discharge) causing a bigger problem...sea salt soaks are know for soothing the pain and healing piercings more quickly
