is there any way to brush the fiber to make it look smooth and luxurious instead of clumpy (it looks like matted fur right now)

use a dog brush or one of them horse combs.

If your Flokati arrives flattened from packing, just give it a good shaking. The more you shake it, the fluffier the Flokati gets.

You may also lightly spritz the rug with cold water, using a sprayer such as a plant mister.

To give the rug a softer feel and texture, you may comb your Flokati with a wide-toothed plastic hairbrush or pet brush. Brush the pile from the center of the rug outward in four directions. Some wool fibers may come out in the brush. However, this is normal and not harmful to your Flokati.

After brushing, shake the rug one more time. Allow your Flokati to dry before walking on it.

yes you comb it with a big tooth then trim it if you have to [ i make rugs for at home and do the same thing and wash them on gentle hang to dry just like new]
