What would be wrong with "banning Islam"?

First amendment aside.

Tell me why its important to allow the religion of Islam to continue to exist in America.

The same thing that would be wrong with banning Christianity or Judaism. The religion itself is not at fault. Islam promotes peace, civil rights and all things good.

It's the people who use Islam to further their own ambitions who are at fault. It's the people who created the hopelesness that leads people into believeing that there is no alternative to terrorism. Bush claims to be a born-again Christian. His actions are costing American & Iraqi lives every day. Why don't you ban Christianity? Israel deliberately destroyed the homes & infrastructure of the Lebanese people during the recent Lebanese war. An estimated 1 million people had to flee their homes. Why don't you ban Judaism? It's their official religion.

Banning a religion just because some of its misguided followers did terrible things seems rather ignorant & bigoted. You're not either of those, are you?

P.S.: Adolf Hitler always wore a cross at his collar. How many people do you think this Christian man killed?

The belief would continue under a different name or as a secret society. Any attempt to completely ban Islam, as in annihilation, would lead to nothing better than the Nazi derived solution to Judaism.

Lets try applying logical and reasonable persuasion as an alternative.

For the same reason that Baptists, Buddhists, Hindus and Jews are allowed to continue practising their faith, Muslims have to be given the freedom to follow their religion. It's a human rights issue, and it is a matter of democracy.

The Truth emerges more from errors than from confusion. Islam will get exposed by its own bankruptcy. Banning will only help in enhancing its strength for few more days and delay its natural extinction.

We can't ignore the first amendment, but if you want to do so, then you can't ignore the international declaration of rights from the UN which gives every person the right to believe whatever he wants.

It is not man's right to take away freedom of religion. That is a God given right weather any paper says so or not. In fact it is utter arrogance for one man to think he can take away any one's religious freedom as on the inside no one can be changed without that person's giving consent to the change.
