Doing work that pleases God is not what saves a person from eternal punishment or gives them access to Heaven; it simply gets God's attention and draws Him to try and move that person to accept Jesus as Lord, so they can benefit eternally from their good work. What entitles a person to Heaven is relationship, not labor. Kingdom work without relationship with God is like trying to deposit money in a bank where you don't have an account, or like trying to move into a house with a person that you're not even married to just because you helped clean it. Even if you're a good person, you need the relationship for your works to count.
Yes, God does love all; that is why He offers everyone a relationship with Him through the only way possible: through accepting His son as their Savior. That is how he offers forgiveness to all and demonstrates His love. Jesus' death was God's offer of marriage to all, a way to pay everyon'es debt of sin off by the blood of his son. If a person rejects the payment of Jesus' death, they can't receive the forgiveness that God is offering, no matter how good a person they are. Forgiveness only comes when a person's sin debt is paid before God, and it can only be paid off by a death - that is the cost of sin. God paid it all for everyone with His son's blood, but it has to be personally received to be effective in an person's life. If a person doesn't believe, he can't receive the payment in his life. There is no other way with God.

This is the way I understand it: The first commandment is to Believe in GOD and if you don't then you are willfully ignoring His presence in your life. If you believe, like I do, GOD made the world/ universe and all that is in it, and that every person is made by GOD for a purpose. Then when you refuse to believe in GOD you will NOT be able to do what He created you to do. No matter how many "good works" you do if you do not believe in Jesus and have faith in His redemptive love you will never have the power of the Holy Spirit to do all that GOD wants you to do.
Only by allowing GOD's love to fill you up and overflow into service for others can we really fulfill our creator's purpose.

That seems to be what a lot of people rely on. Two things detract from such thoughts, the first being that its reported that Jesus has the ear of God which means he will be favorable to we who have followed him. The second being a direct quote from Jesus himself who said that a faith without works is a dead faith which would imply that both are needed. Hey, whats the big deal? Accept Jesus, get Babtised, then live life, helping others; if you don't want anybody else to know, it doesn't matter except one loses the fellowship.

God will do what God will do.
God seeks rconciliation with all... When face to face with the creator, will the athiest still deny God? I cannot say what God will do if the athiest decides to believe, but if the athiest continues to deny God at that point... Well then the athiest will remain in a state of seperation from God; which is the condition of hell.

It is not the works we do that get us into heaven.
We are dirty with the sins we have committed and the only way to cover those sins is through the blood of Christ.
When you ask forgiveness for your sins (repent turn from you sinful ways) and ask Christ to live in you he covers your sins.
If you are dirty with sin you can not be in heaven because this is where Gods presents exists God is pure good.

oookkk steven, it would have to be this question. lol I do believe that god would forgive someone for not believing in him. I know someone that is atheist and he asks me, how do I know that there is a god?? And my reply to him was, how do you know that there is not??? Everyone has their own beliefs, which is fine with me. I do believe that we are going to the same place someday.

if god is so understanding, forgiving, and loving, why would he let good people "burn in hell" just because they have doubts as to wether there even is a god?
If what most of you are saying is true, that i will not be allowed into heaven, based solely on me not having enough evidence to convince me that there is a god, then do I even want to believe in god??
another point to be made, if heaven is filled with all the religious and righteous people, and hell is full of the people that partied hard, had fun, and enjoyed all the pleasure's of life, then who would i rather spend eternity with?? i would say i'd spend time with the people in hell.
i live a good life, i dont hurt anyone, i work 40 hours a week, go home at the end of the day, make sure my family is in good health, support my children, help the lady next dor with her maintenance needs for free, and i am agnostic.
if just the fact that one does not believe, condemns them to hell, then your faith is sick and twisted.

"Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek Him". (Hebrews 11:6)
Your example is like a murderer who helps little old ladies across the street. It's nice that he helps little old ladies, but he is still a murderer. There is no greater evil than turning others away from the Living God, who alone can save them.

The ONLY way to heaven is by accepting Christ as your personal savior. The bible directly says that no one shall enjoy the kingdom of God by their works alone. Not in that verbage of course, but definitley to that end.

"there is no one that is just"
"your good works are like filthy rags to God"
"I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but through me"
"you must be born again to enter the kingdom of God"
..you cannot be saved by your works lest any one boast"
We are saved by his grace through our faith.
Works cannot save us-who is good? Who is good compared to God? Does this good work doer still sin? How can one enter heaven with sin? they can't, except by the blood of Jesus covering their sins.
Not by works, ever, no one is good enough.
