Practice, practice, practice. "Oh how I love your Law (teaching), it is my meditation all the day" (Psalm 119:97)

I wish that I could. I have tried to memorize chapters of the Bible but after a time , I forget. (There are a number of verses that I do remember.)
It would be a great help to remember because when questions are asked of me, I would like to be able to answer better by quoting scripture. I don't like to say, "well, somewhere in the Bible, it mentions something about this and that." I would rather quote it correctly than cause confusion.

No need. I quote Shakespeare. Most people can't tell the difference. And lots of people who seem to 'quote the Bible" aren't really. Spare the rod and spoil the child, for example, is not in the Bible.

I don't think quoting it is such a big deal. After all, they're only memorizing one translation, right? The important thing is to understand the overall message behind the scriptures--that is, that God is Love, and His purpose for sending His Son, the Messiah, was to communicate to us that it's all about Love. The exact wording isn't the important part. Well, I suppose exact wording was very important when it was getting scribed in the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek!

I quote the Bible oncein awhile, but never to be conescending. I feel like alot of people do it just to look superior. I would not want to be one of those people.

If you memorize you will be able to.
You should start by learning the books of the Bible. That way you will know where everything is! = )

No, I think quoting others is a lame way to avoid forming your own opinions.
