i wouldnt recommend riding and listening to music unless you are really experience and riding is like second nature to you. i have some Philips headphones that wrap around my ear. they have buds that go directly into my ear. it keeps out a good amount of noise and they are easily secured cuz my glasses are tight over them.
in the past ive used some clip on Sony headphone and ipod phones. they fall of easily and i dont recommend them for any type of athletic activity. i had Sony behind-the-head style and they stay on fairly well and block a descent amount of noise but they are very big and look weird.
you arent going to get total noise elimination unless you spend over $100 for noise canceling headphones. dont do it! its not safe on a bike, besides they are so big it rediculous. i listed a link for the headphones ive got. they also have good bass and cost around $20

The car that is going to hit and kill you is the fast one. The one that overtakes you before you hear it coming. Believe me, I know. Even using a mirror is no guarantee, because you cannot be looking at it all the time.
It is really a bad idea to ride with headphones on your ears. Please don't do it.
Do the smart thing, listen to the world; it is half the pleasure of the traveling with neither engine noise nor being sealed up in a metallic cocoon. The other half is seeing all the little details that people miss from inside their steel wombs.
Sing to yourself if you can't stand the company of your environment... or your riding buddies.

You really shouldn't wear headphones while cycling. It is a very dangerous sport and you need to be able to hear cars and be aware of your surroundings. I can't tell you how annoying it is on the trails to encounter someone in their own world, listening to their Ipod, and trying to pass the person.
Your best bet is to rig up some sort of external speaker system. I've thought about mounting a radio to my handlebars and transmitting my MP3 player through it.

iPod headphones always fall out when i go running but i got some new Phillips headphones which are like the iPod headphones except the hook around your ears to keep them on and are good with air noise resistance. Good luck with that.

As a cyclist, I would also advise against wearing headphones while riding. When you are riding, you need to hear and pay attention to what is going on around you for reasons that are too many to list. This is a very serious safety issue.

No. You on no account, ever experience with headphones on, for the same reason you do not force a vehicle with headphones on. besides the fact that i may well be mendacity if I mentioned i've got not ridden with one earbud in. Hell, i've got ridden with Bluetooth in the previous.

I use my ear buds from my iPod but before my iPod I used Sony head phones that wrap around your ears... they are blue... don't know what they are called but they worked well. They go into your ear a bit. But I also leave one earbud out so I can hear what's going on around me.
