Dont quote the bible because that is not completely factual. They are just stories to help us live the right way. And many parts of the bible are highly romanticised and you can tell they were written by people and people alone. When you answer this question use your brain and grasp reality.

The Bible never mentioned that it was 6000 years old.

The age of the Adamic kind when Solomon finished the first temple is around 3155 years old, based on the Bible.

But the time from Solomon finished the first temple to Jesus's birth wasn't directly mentioned in the Bible. According to Ussherian chronology it's probably around 850-950 years.

This is one "lteralist" position that's rapidly being replaced by a more palatable soft-shoe routine ..er ... I mean .. explanation. It's part of the recent revisions that, for example, make a day of Genesis mean the same as "billions of years." Yea, sure, and when they said the "four corners of the world" they used that phrase just like we do today - not to mean the earth was flat .. yeah sure, right ... that's the ticket, yeah.

Because they prefer to deny fact. If they accept that the earth is really billions of years old, it throws into doubt one thing about the bible. Which then means there may be other things in the bible that are false and throws into question their entire bible. People don't like their faith questioned.

Hi,
My name is Max.
What fact are you talking about? And if you are rejecting the Bible totally the only answer you're trying to get is that God doesn't exist and you basically said that I should not even try to answer. We can talk about facts of evolution Theory and Creation and will get nowhere - you and I will stay where we are because you rejected anything I'd have to say. I want you to ask yourself the only one question - If God exists, how do I look in His eyes? Would you answer my question? Right your response(If God exists). If you'll say that you're fine then stay on your position - you are right - God doesn't exist. BUT wait, was there anything immoral in your life - girls(boys) dirty relationships, dirty pictures, dirty movies, games, etc. Have you thought about what keeps you away from thinking that God exists. I don't want to say anything else. I'm 19 years old, I accepted God in my heart and I don't have dirty stuff in my life anymore and I don't want to. For myself don't really care how old the Earth is. I care about it because of people like you. I took an Astronomy class this quarter in the University of Washignton and I was actully amazed that astronomers build their theories on another theories, estimates - nothing specific.

I hope that at this time of the year (Cristmas) you'll think about my questions. If you have any interest you can read some (out of millions) testimonies of people like you and me. Some of them I know.

Rick, let them dream. You are trying to introduce rational thought to people that actually believe the world is 6000 years old. Good luck. You have more patience than I .

Apparently there are people old enough to remember the beginning. If it is indeed fact that the earth is NOT 6000 years old, who is your witness to verify that fact?

Your brain grasps more than it should.
