Yes, it is cleaner and much more refreshing to feel and look at. Not to mention less obstruction.

Untouched: No, it looks kinda scary and overgrown. Who knows what could be hiding in there, lol?
Shaved clean: No, it reminds me of changing my nephew's diapers, which is unsexy and wrong on so many levels. I want a man, not a boy. Also, stubble or razor burn down there is gag worthy.
Neatly trimmed: All the way.

I don't think you'll have to worry either way with an attitude like that. BTW, is your ex not a female? you ask if females like it, then you say your "ex" use to like it..this implies that your "ex" is not female...not that there is ANYTHING wrong with that.

My experience is that they like it neatly trimmed but not completely shaven.
