I think some girls want boyfriends just to say they have a boyfriend. Peer pressure! Fear of being made fun of, if they don't have one....Better to be independent and smart then "hooked up" and dumb!

It is mainly peer pressure that causes them to seek to have a boyfriend next to them all the time. They have to show that they are cool and popular.
