Depends on the religion. Many religions require you maintain a holy day of obligation which means weekly attendence of church and special church functions/holidays.
If your just spiritual then helping the homeless is a better way to go. Not only do you help the less fortunate but youll feel better about yourself when you do it.

Serve in a homeless ministry...it's doing something and it's better than church I would think. I think that it's the best kind of church!

A lot of people may not agree with me. I do not go to church on a regular basis. I feel that my heart and soul are with God. I believe in him and he knows that. I teach my kids about him too. Wether you go to church or to the homeless ministry, as long as you know where you stand, you will be fine. I do feel though that God does want us to do our part in helping people through volunteering and being there when someone needs it the most.

Homeless Ministry...definately. It's the difference between serving others who need help or filling your mind with someone else's opinions on what the religion teaches.

What has "weekly" got to do with it? Take out the time element and reconsider your question.
God has a distinct tendency to call us to do precisely what we would not want to do, or what we don't feel qualified to do, or to fellowship with Christians we'd rather avoid, or to attend a denomination with which we have some 'issues'. Many of the previous comments assume you can easily determine what God is calling you to do. Friend, that is one of the hardest things on earth to do! Our hearts are deceitful and treacherous - we cannot know them.
All I'll add is that Christ loves his Bride, the Church, dying for her, and all Christians are part of that holy body. We are called to worship together, to pray together, to serve together, to love the brethren and our neighbours. Have you got enough faith in God to seek him in prayer regarding your question, and to persevere until you get his answer? Otherwise, you're beating the air.

Jesus cleans your coronary heart all of the time once you look for the dominion of Heaven. Wait -- volunteering? Jesus volunteers to bathe your coronary heart all of the time once you look for the dominion of Heaven. right this is my plan: There could desire to be dissimilar human beings from the congregation to bathe the church now that the church is out of money. that's how the precise church homes do it - their no longer got here upon in the U. S. of united states of america. besides, a physique helps itself, so money isn't needed. So do no longer in basic terms sparkling for as quickly as a week, yet sparkling in basic terms a factor as quickly as a week. The organs of a physique proportion the load if as quickly as member is going down. The church could desire to style a team of volunteers. A kidney would not function self reliant of the different organs -- all of them help one yet another.

Serve in a homeless place. You don't have to go to Church to get to know your 'God'

If you are called to a homeless ministry thaen that is where you should be... where two or more are gathered in Jesus' name that is where His church is.

I would say both are equally important. Faith without works is dead. On the other hand worshiping God within a supportive faith community keeps your spiritual batteries charged and should feed your spirit. I see them both on the same continuum.

Neither - you're wasting time in both situations. Maybe if you gave the homeless food, that'd be a better use of your time.
