Ladies, I’d really like to know this.

Being strictly superficial here but still totally scientific, how much money do you think your boyfriend spends because he has you as his girlfriend? Girls only. I have a separate question for guys. I want to have two separate unbiased studies to compare.

Let’s keep things civil and simple okay? I’m just asking a simple question with no ulterior motive. And be completely honest and thorough okay? It’s not just the dates, but the gas, the presents, the extra clothing he buys or (you make him buy LOL) the cologne he wears… all of it. How much extra do you suppose he spends because he wants a relationship with you?

Oh and if you would, could you please include your age, if you & he are in high school or college or does he work and what does he do for a living. Knowing roughly how much income he has lets us know if income has a bearing on how much a guy will spend on his girl. I think it bears less than you might think.

Please I asked let's be civil. Come on. I'm asking a serious question here. Having a girlfriend does cost guys money, like it or not. He at least has to pay for gas to come over to your house.

I'm not asking about how much he spends ON YOU. I'm asking how much he spends because he has a girlfriend. He probably buys that shampoo that you like that's more expensive than the cheap stuff he prefers. He does little things just because he cares about you. Those little things cost him money, but I'm sure he WANTS to pay for those things.

And just because you don't ask him to spend money on you doesn't mean he doesn't want to spend money on you.

My husband and I were discussing this recently. (we've been together 10 yrs) We were jokingly discussing our 5 yr old son dating, and it occurred to me how much it cost my husband while we were dating. We went out to dinner constantly and many other places a few times a week. He would never let me pay, (his mama raised him that way) so I know it was likely 150+ every week! Yikes! It seems really unfair. I can't argue with the etiquette though, and we intent to raise our son the same way. So ladies out there, insist you pay occasionally, he's probably broke!

Hard to say, we don't keep a running tab. He puts gas in my car, but on dates we go dutch a lot. We've been together 12 years, and share a bank account. We make about the same amount of money. It's probably pretty even. He pays the current bills, but our credit is messed up and I pay the old bills to bail us out.
We're both 50.

Well I am the type of women who prefers to buy things for myself. I really don't like someone paying for my things so I don't think my bf spends much more on me then if he was by himself. We both work fulltime and split the bills down the middle! It is a completely equal relationship. I am 29 and he is 35.

not in High School or College, homemaker

I get 1000 a month, $300 or so goes to credit card payments

If I earned more I would spend a little more on her and would share expenses a bit more equally.

Our shared expenses are like $1900 a month

Zero. I work full time so if I want something, I buy it myself. I don't ask my boyfriend to spend money on me, and I don't expect it. I'm a big girl...I can take care of myself...and I prefer to. I'm 30, he's 32, neither of us are in high school or college (obviously). He makes about $27K a year, and I make $55K a year.
