There is no way to keep them out of the tree. Last year we found our cat had climbed halfway up the tree and got stuck in all the ornaments in the middle of the tree. We had to take everything down to get her out... huge mess. Try to avoid breakable ornaments all together, or put them on a little tree out of your cats reach.

Lynn is right cats are born to climb! So it is hard to stop them from climbing your Christmas tree. I dont know if they will climb and artificial one or not, but Im gonna find out cause I got a Siamese kitten from my husband for Christmas. And he likes the things hanging lower but I dont know if he could climb it or not. good luck.

The orange peel doesnt work for my cat because she will try to eat it. just try to put treats or catnip somewhere else so the cat will get distracted and leave the tree alone or maybe buy new toys to distract him/her.

I don't know if this works as I haven't tried it myself but I've heard that if you put orange peel in the tree the branches ths will deter them as they don't like citrus smells. Let me know if it works!! We just put up our tree and if the kitties do climb we will give it a go...whatever works!

Throw it out the window. What do you want an evil, smelly cat for anyway??

That's a good question... we have the same issue with our two ... I guess when they do it, they are asking for your attention... so play with them...

Good luck and Happy holiday to you and your cats!!!

cats like these things and you really can't keep them away so put breakable ornaments at the top and non-breakable ornaments at the bottom
