I would love to start attending church again. I used to but I moved to a different city and I just don't exactly know the correct way of going about joining another church. Thank you!

Immediately, the questioner should begin praying in faith for God's assistance and direction in this matter.

(1 John 5:15) We know we are to have the things asked since we have asked them of him.

Secondly, the questioner should not hesitate to read the bible immediately. Even if a printed copy is unavailable, the entire text is freely available on the internet:
http://jehovantodistajat.fi/e/bible/
http://www.hti.umich.edu/r/rsv/
http://www.hti.umich.edu/k/kjv/

Thirdly, the questioner should not hesitate to share even his limited understanding of the Christian "good news" with friends, neighbors, relatives, etc.

(Mark 13:10) the good news has to be preached first

Fourthly, the questioner can get true Christians to come to him in his home and together they can read and study the bible!

(Matthew 18:20) For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst.

Such a visit can be requested at no charge, by writing to a nearby address or using the online form at:

The important thing is to insist that any discussion or meeting use the bible as the only authority. Too many churches elevate human tradition and philosophy of men over God's Word the Holy Bible. Consider also whether the church has an organized program whereby all its adherents preach publicly as Jesus commanded.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

I was in your situation a while ago, just moving to a new city (more like a new country lolz). What church did you used to go to? Adventist, Gospel, Catholic? From there you can start by looking up those churches that are near your area. Use the yellow book or internet. Then go to the church, meet the pastor and talk to him about your situation. Go through a few places. Attend the sermons because they really differ from one church to another. Then you can decide which one you want to start going to.

A good way to find a church with your denomination of preference is to search the denominations website. If you are looking for churches centered on music, a certain age group, or just spirituality in general you can find those through any variety of means. Just search in the yellow pages and try out a bunch of different denominations and churches and find a place where you feel like you can be at home. You'll need to grade on how you feel, how the people treat you, the music, and the overall feel of being there and knowing you are worshiping. Good luck!

NO THANK - YOU for asking for help... Here is your answer, well actually GOD'S ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION!

Acts 2 38 Then Peter said unto them , Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins...
Acts 2:47 ...AND the LORD added to the Church such as should be saved.

God adds us to the Church of Christ....Not man.Man does not have the right to decide who can join Christ's Church.

The Church of Christ stands alone on the Bible. No adding to or taking away from God's word.

We are told exactly, by God's inspired word, what we must do to be saved.
Romans 10:17 Hear the word
Hebrews 11:6 Believe
Acts 17:30 Repent
Acts 8:35-39 Confess
Romans 6: 1-4 Baptized through immersion in water.

Acts 5:29 We ought to obey God rather than man.

Lord's Supper---Acts 20:7 Matthew 26:26-28 1 Corinthians 11: 23-28
Singing-----------Ephesians 5:19 1 Corinthians 14: 15 Colossians 3:16
Praying-----------Acts 2:42 Acts 12: 5-15
Giving-------------1 Corinthians 16:1,2 2 Corinthians 9:7; 8:1-12
Teaching---------Acts 2:42 Acts 20:7 2 John vs. 9

True worship is in spirit and truth. 1 Corinthians 13: 1-3
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth" thy word is truth
John 8: 31,32 If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed:
And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

Not all worship is accepted by God only those that worship him as he tells us to.
Matthew 15: 8,9 ...This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain do they worship me teaching for doctrine the commandments of men.

Mark 16:15,16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, he that believeth not shall be damned.

I am a member of the Church of Christ in Coalmont Pennsylvania.
Please contact me here if you would like more information.

Again thank you for being strong and brave enough to ask about the right Church for GOD to add you to.

First find a church that you would like to join. Look in the yellow pages of the phone book to find a faith that you are comfortable with or that the Lord would have you visit. Try it for a while, look for friendly people that are genuinely interested in your fellowship. You may have to try different churches before finding one that the Lord wants you in. Get involved, volunteer. Membership will be a passive occurrence.
God Bless!

Call different churches and ask about times and the flavor of the service. Try a few different ones in you denomination and see which one fits you best before officially becoming a member. Churches now range from strictly conventional to almost new age guitar masses. So finding one that fits you and your ideas of religion are what's most important.

Visit first. Visit many. Meet the members/staff. Ask questions. Most have intro classes to become members. Took us 3 tries to find the right Church home. We love our current Church. You do not have to be a member of a Church to attend.

Blessings on your search!

I believe that those feelings that you had as a little girl came from God. I honestly do. The Bible is a great source for morals, love, kindness, forgiveness, family bonding, and serving others. So you could simply teach the principles found in the Bible to your family. It also says that if you lack wisdom, you can ask God. (James 1:5). Try it and see. I bet you will get an answer for what you can do.

Go to the church of your choice. If you like the church continue to go; and when they ask if someone would like to be a member; go up front, and become a member.

If you are already a member of another church; you could have your letter of membership transferred to the new church.

No problem at all.

It's easy. Just search on churches for your zip code and try to locate one near you. Recommend you attend several and find one that meets your spiritual needs.. ...just be sure the church is a bible-based church, meaning their teachings and beliefs are based solely on the bible.
