I like a nice light coffee color with white trim. You will probably have to primer the room over the dark color to re-paint it.

ok girly i have the perferct save 4 u so u dont have 2 paint over all of it. there is a show get color it is 2 die 4.. i think they have a site to. It is amazing what they can do with colors. but if that doesnt work, then i suggest you keep the color and add other colors 2 it, like paint your ceiling a differnt color and like the bottom half or the top half will b a different color. then you bring more color into your room it will lighten it up. dont 4get to look at your rug and flooring. rooms should have 4 or 5 colors in it, its more inviting . it really depend on what color u like. I have seen dining rooms decorated with everycolor imaginable. I would go with a couple colors and just watch that show one time. its amazing.

Keep the burgundy walls, add some air warm toned curtains (floral maybe) anearthy green rug, some ivy hanger out of a planter on a wall, a mirror with some gold tones, some floral arrangements with pink, gold, green. Use your imagination. You can also break up the dark burgundy with a nice border around the top of the room or hang wallpaper halfway up and the border as the edging. Good luck!

Go and set the table with your fine dishes, if you have some. Step back and take note of the colors and then base your paint color choice on your table settings. If you have no dishes as of yet, then now would be a great time to buy some. If your dishes are neutral, then get your color inspiration from the curtains or perhaps an area rug for under the table. It is far easier to match paint to something than it is to paint the room a random color and be going nuts trying to find things to match that random color. The color red is supposed to enhance the appetite, but your room would have to be able to carry off this saturated color for it to work.

Try beige, cream or even brick. These are suitable for dining rooms. You can then use white or light blue curtains even with vivid colour floral motives. You may need to apply a white paint first to get rid of the dark colour & get a neutral background. Hope that'll work!!!

If you could give us an idea about the furniture in the room, the curtains, any other accessories you have, you'd make this alot more accurate... and easier as well....
