Become brainwashed and stop thinking for yourself. Put your faith in a moronic fairytale about some invisible man who lives in the clouds and completely ignore science.

Someone will probably offer you a prayer to say, but the bible never offers a 'sinner's prayer'.

Unfortunately, there's not a 'slam dunk' verse on the subject that addresses it in just a line or two. The bible alternately says to 'believe' or to 'repent' and sometimes both. They are two sides of the same coin, in my opinion.

Try needgod.com and reading the book of John.

PS - looking over some of the answers, there is most certainly NOT any works you have to perform, whether they are baptism or reading certain books or whatever. Eph 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast." Hebrews chapter 11 also belabors this point, works are a result of faith, not the other way around.

Another poster suggested wayofthemaster.com - it's another good site.

PPS - you can e-mail me, too at mithrilhawk-at-yahoo.com. I teach the bible as a lay preacher in a prison.

Are you being serious? The New Testament is a book written by Christians for Christians. Giving you verses from the Bible would not help you. You need to pray and ask God where He wants you. He'll answer. The only definition of a Christian is one who accepts Christ as God incarnate. Beyond that it is up to you how fully into the faith you'd like to proceed by choosing the church that best meets your level of belief. After you are a Christian, then the New Testament in its entirety will speak to you about how to be a Christian. Basically accept Jesus and take up your cross.

John 3:16 For God so loved that world that he gave his only begotten son and who soever believeth in him should not parish but have ever lasting life. This is common among all christian denominations. Some are more literal that you have to be saved by saying a prayer and asking Jesus to come into your heart and other are more laxed where you just have to believe. I am catholic so i believe that faith in God, trust in Christ, forgiveness, Divine intervention of saints, and living as an example for other people is what makes me a christian. I was raised southern baptist then converted to catholicism a few years ago so i have seen a few variations. Good luck on what ever denomination you decide to go with. I am pretty open to all religions and i take it with a grain of salt. Think about what the religion does for you and how it inspires you to live a better life. When you find a church that leaves you inspired to do good for yourself and others then you have found the right one.

You may get many answers here, but being a Christian means following Christ. To make the decision to follow Christ is a big one. The best verses on the subject are:

John 3:16
Romans 3:23
Romans 6:23
Romans 10:9-10.

Basically what you do is make a decision with all your heart to follow Christ. Believe that he died for your sins and was raised from the dead and pray to him. Doesnt have to be all religious, just ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and ask him to come into your heart and life.

Many think it ends there, it doesnt. It begins there. To follow Christ, you need to surrender it all to Him every day.

You may want to go to Church, though you dont have to. I would recommend you find a group of Christians but that could look like anything. Depending on your interests and where you are.

If you're really interested, you can pray to God in a heartfelt prayer. The Jehovah's Witnesses will teach you what the Bible says if you want to know. Look up your local Kingdom Hall- I think it's under Jehovah's Witnesses in the phone book. Jehovah is God's name and its use is the mark of true Christians. (Isaiah 12:3-5 and many other places- think "your name be sanctified" in the model prayer or Lord's prayer) Taking in knowledge of God is essential: John 17:3. It's not as easy as praying or confessing or donating to a church, of course. "He that does the will of the father is the one that will be saved." (Matthew 7:21 roughly quoted). Start a Bible study with Jehovah's Witnesses, his true people, and learn for yourself from the Bible and only the Bible about God's will. Also their website is www.watchtower.org

Bad News:
We are all Sinners- Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

The Penalty for sin is death- Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death (an eternal seperation from God).

Good News:
Christ Died for you- Romans 5:8
But God demonstrated His love toward us, in that while yet we were still sinnners, Christ died for us.

You can be saved through faith- Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye save through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of work lest any man should boast.

Bottomline: If you believe that only Christ's death and resurection is a substitute for your sin, then you will be saved. It has always been about having a relationship with your personal saviour.

I see no one has offered you any good information and thats sad. To become one, get babtised which is normally done in a church. This makes you a known person to God, then accept Jesus as your Savior by asking him into your heart, then after reading the first four books of the New Testament in a Christian Bible, do what he teaches. Nobody else needs to know and stay away from the idiots who want you to testify for them.

Pray to God, read the Bible and look for a church in your area. And pray to find the Truth.

Romans 10:9-10
9)that if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved,
10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

To start with, it is personal (between you and Jesus) You come to Jesus just as you are and tell Him that you have sinned and ask forgiveness. Ask Him to come into your heart. Like the verses say..you believe in your heart and then you confess with your mouth. Jesus loves you., and gave His life for you, so that you could have a life free from the things of this world and so you could live forever in heaven with Him. Find a bible believing church so that they can help you in your new walk with Jesus.
God bless.

somewhere in romans.. (sorry i dont know exact verses):

Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that he is God, the savior (Jesus)

It has nothing to do with being good, or giving money. No man is saved by good works, only by the Grace of God.

It's cool too because you meet God. And I don't know about you, but I'd say God is my best friend.
