I think a person has a right to make a choice, while in good health and sound mind, that htye do not want to be resusciated if they have a heart attack or other medical event which may cause them to have long term damage or impairment if they are resusitated. Many people may think that if they have a heart attck (or something else) that they may have been menat to die and that science should not interfere. I personaly am very concerned that my family might have to pay tons of money to keep me alive even if I am not fully functional or have severe brain damage. I dont want to be a vegetable or a burden to others, and I think people ahould be able to make the same choice.

Depends on the situation. If it is a frail elderly person then DNR is appropraite. Performing CPR will hurt them and crack ribs and puncture lungs, etc.
As a younger person it may be worth wild. But it all depends on the person.
Because I have a child I would not give DNR orders because she needs her mother. But,if I were childless, I would give DNR orders in a second. As a nurse, I know what takes place during a code and would NOT like that to happen to me. Everyone is different and each person should be respected on their decision.

I think it's that person's Choice. It's not right for anyone BUT that person to make that decision.
