When I was little I was told all the time that "God has a plan for us" and "God already planned when we will born and when we will die before we even start out".

So does that mean that the mother who has the abortion and the doctor that performs it are just tools in God's plan since he decided when we start to live and begin to die?

I don't believe that abortion should be illegal; it's better to end a life before it begins than ruin multiple lives in the process. There are thousands of neglected, abused, and abandoned children just in America to add more because someone didn't want thier child. So if you fight to make abortion illegal in America and annoy people, you should stop there and not bother anymore people.

Some people shouldn't have children and some people aren't ready to. Deciding to have an abortion is hard enough on the person having it; there is absolutely no need to make them feel even worse about it.

Both sides need to realize that it is not an easy question and that neither side is totally right or wrong. Perhaps then we could come up with a solution that allows for abortion when needed and avoids using it as "opps we didn't use birth control" or as a reccomended form of birth control.

Yes, this would mean better education by parents, schools and potentially other organizations. Yes, this also may not be totally palatable to both sides, but this issue should not be treated as an all or nothing issue.

I really wish anti-abortion people would go global. They really need an education on how the world actually works. So far, the only anti-abortionists I've ever met were people who live in a suburban neighborhood and think the majority of abortions are some kind of birth control method for women who apparently wait until the eighth or ninth month to have them.

The "global" community doesn't care what a bunch of fanatical, fundamentalist nuts in the US think about abortion.
Abortion is legal in the vast majority of countries in the world, and isn't tied to religious hangups. Even in countries that are considered "Catholic" such as France, Italy, Spain, etc. abortion is fully legal, despite the Catholic church's opposition to it.
The only countries in the world that outlaw abortion are those where theocracy is the rule rather than a secular government -- Saudi Arabia, nearly all other Muslim countries, Philippines, and a very few others.

Most of the world accepted long ago that this choice belonged to individuals, and was not one that they were going to let conservative religions decide. And most of them snicker at the "provincial" US for still arguing about it.

I think focus on the US. The US has got to eventually get a clue and realize that we cannot be the world police and save every nation and country from themselves. I understand it is in the best interest of the world to have a healthy population and as many democracies as possible, but we have got to draw the line too. There are plenty of things right "here at home'" that we need to focus on. So let's keep our murderous mothers out of the abortion clinics in the US.

People who oppose abortion, I guess have their own reasons. But I do think it would help for them to see impoverished nations and what can happen due to over-population. Also, I believe that if a woman who is against abortion were brutally raped and impregnated by her Uncle would change her mind on the issue.

I am asuming that you are referring to the rate of child birth in most 3rd world countries?. If they would see the conditions the children must endure, they would think twice about abortion?. You can ALWAYS prevent pregnancy with a little knowledge. I see NO reason to get pregnant if you dont want to or just dont care who you open your legs to. You do not have to spend time abroad to know there are unwanted children. They are here too. U.S. doesn't show them all over t.v. in deplorable conditions like they do with other countries. Believe me, those conditions exst here too.

They need to definitely focus on third world countries, not only by blindly giving money for their educational agenda but to live there and see the results of having millions of beggar children who get raped beaten and abused daily.

They should keep their beliefs to themselves and think long and hard about why they oppose Abortion.

It's none of their business what another decides to do with their pregnancy.

all politics is local.

I try not to worry too much about the laws of other nations. Heck, I'd be happy not to worry about the laws of other states.

As a conservative/libertarian, I'd be happy if abortion and gay marriage and a whole host of issues were left to the states. Why should people in NYC and California have any say in how we run our lives in different states?
