Due to problem with windows which I have been unable to fix, I need to uninstall and reinstall it. After I've backed up everything onto disk, how do I go about uninstalling windows? I'd like to completely wipe the hard drive if possible so the computer is in 'as new' condition.

Can you tell me how I go about doing this please?

Insert the CD of the software. It will provide the information. You execute the instructions...! I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some drive problems can be easily fixed by yourself using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.

Put your WIndows CD into the CD drive
Boot the computer from the CD so the Windows setup starts
After you do the F8 to agree, it will ask you if you want to format the hard drive - sounds like you do to wipe everything
Then just let the set up complete...
