I may be moving to the U.S. from Sydney next year with 3 yorkshire terriers. I am loathe to put them in cargo/baggage hold (heard horror stories) and am trying to find out if any airlines will allow them to stay with me in cabin. I have found plenty of info regarding the U.K., Europe and U.S. domestic travel, but nothing on a journey from Australia to the U.S. - I think it's a pretty long shot as it's such a long journey and realise that I would have to bring someone with me as I have 3 dogs and many airlines only permit 1 dog per human passenger. Does anyone know if any airlines definitely permit Sydney to U.S. travel with pets in cabin? Thanks! :)

Each airline has different rules and regulations concerning pets.
It will depend on the airline you use, not all airlines will allow pets in the cabin on International flights.

This is a wonderful site, it covers a LOT of information. It also has "most" of the requirements for each airline.

This is the portion that covers coming into the US

I wish I had airline numbers for you, but the site covers too many and I didn't know which airline you are considering.

There may be a temperature consideration, some parts of CA. do get cold.

Whenever puppies or dogs travel internationally, the dog needs to go through a quarentine period at each country. You would need a lot of layover time to do that one. The best thing to do is to call the airlines you are thinking of using.
They have all the answers to the questions you are asking, they handle these things all the time.

Good luck! Sounds like you'll have your hands full!

not sure about that but if their small enough to all fit in one carry on dog crate and it fits in your lap that should be fine...i have put 2 in one very small one and they didn't say anything to me....by the way i have 8 yorkies...don't you love them....anyway with all the things and securety at the airports now they might not alow it....but hey maybe you can puchase anouther seat for a pet carrier if your worried about them riddding in cargo....good luck and happy holidays

I don't think they'll let animals actually in the cabin, but you can have them put in a special place.
