I just read the "Painting a stripe" Answer section, and I realize I screwed up by taping off and painting one coat of the stripe first. (I didnt repaint the whole wall first, then tape off and painting the stripe.)

I'm not anxious to paint over the stripe and start from scratch because I'm using magnetic paint ($$).

Ideas welcome!

Let the strip dry for at least a week so that the paint does not peel off with the tape. Secondly, use that blue painter's tape manufactured by 3M. It does a good job of masking the paint while having an "easy release" property that prevents it from sticking too hard to the paint. Apply the tape slightly inside of the surface area of the stripe so that when you paint the rest of the wall, you will have a consistent line. If you attempt to mask the stripe right at edge, you might not get it perfectly and then you will have 3 colors on the wall- The old wall color, the new wall color and the stripe.

They have the new "blue" masking tape that's for painters. It doesn't stick to the paint, so it won't peel it off.
Let the paint dry very well, then use the tape on it and repaint the rest of the wall.
Afterwards, CAREFULLY remove the tape from the stripe. Put on your second coat and it should be okay.

Depending on the look you're going for, you can glaze over the entire wall to fill-in the other areas. I sometimes use the same color paint as the stripe, water down a bit and rub on with a damp towel. Practice in a small area first. The best way to do it is have the paint store mix the proper glaze color if you're not experienced. Good luck.
