Insulin is a natural ingradient generated by the body itself which is able to metabolise(DEGRADE) the GLUCOSE that is normally found in the SUGAR in the Sweets.
In the disease like Diabetes which is due to the deficiency of the insulin the sugar/glucose cannot be degraded and there by the Blood Glucose level gets increased, and hense docs say NO TO SWEETS.

Well you have to know two type of diabetes.
Type 1 is when you are insulin deficient. The Beta-cells in your pancreas produce insulin. But for some reasons such as genetic defect, those cells don't produce insulin anymore. This is why you are lack of insulin in your body. And thus, this is why you keep monitoring your blood sugar and inject insulin into your body.
Now, insulin are hormone that stimulates the cells in your body to uptake sugars from blood stream. If there is no insulin in your blood stream to stimulates cells to uptake sugars, then the blood sugars in your blood stream increase. And too much sugar in blood can cause coma. That's why your doctor suggested that you don't consumpt sweets too much.
Basically what happens is that your blood have a lots of sugars, but the cell can't get those sugars and they starve to dead. Just like you have too much foods in your mouth but you can't swallow those foods.
Type 2 diabete is different, that the beta-cells in your pancrease do produce insulin. BUT either the insulin receptors loss their sensitivities to insulin or insulin is defective that insulin receptors can't recognize the signal from insulin.
Because of either insulin structure is defective, or receptors are defective and can't recognize each other, there would be no sigal from insulin to tell the cells to uptake sugars from blood stream. Therefore high concentration of blood sugars where the cells can't get the sugars. And increase the consumption of sweets only build up or higher concentration of blood sugars, which is bad.
So the doctors are right to suggest that those who have both types of diabetes must reduce their sweets consumption or don't at all.

Watching your glycemic level (level of simple sugar in your body) is important in diabetes, because diabetes decreases the body's ability move sugars into the cells. Keep in mind that there are two types of diabetes (I and II). Most diabetics in the United States are type II diabetics. In Type I diabetes, the body does not produce insulin and that is when you have to take insulin shots. In the second, the body becomes resistant to insulin (this is often when people are overweight and is strongly linked to obesity). Insulin often does not help in this case, so you cannot control your glycemic level with insulin. That is why people must really pay attention to the sugars that they eat (sspecially carbohydrates). In both cases, increases in your glycemic level above the normal range can over time cause blindness, neurological disorders, kidney damage, cardiac problems. The good news is that for people with Type II diabetes, losing weight significantly improves the body's ability to control it's glycemic levels.

because a defficiency in insulin prevents the uptake of glucose into cells. Eating more sugar than your cells can uptake in a given time can lead to all types of problems. First you get high blood sugar. The high blood sugar can overload the kidneys causing damage. Furtermore it cam increase risk of infection (food for pathogens). Poor circulation becomes a problem etc etc. coma the list goes on. So you need to take only what your insulin levels can handle (this includes the fact you are relying on insulin medicine)

Because if insulin is deficient, there is no hormone to reduce your blood sugar levels, so it you eat more sweets then the more that your hyperglycemia (high sugar levels in blood) will exacerbate. Hyperglycemia is another symptom of diabetes. Yes, sweets will increase your sugar levels and therefore worsen your diabetic condition.

Cells need insulin in order to bring sugar into them and use them. When you don't make enough insulin, the sugar stays in your blood, so you have a high blood glucose level. Sweets contain a lot of sugar and will raise the blood glucose level alot and cause problems.

Diabetes is when your body doesn't produce enough insulin to process the sugars you eat. Therefore, you shouldn't eat sweets and add to the problem that your body already has.

in diabetes the hormone insulin is deficient in our body.. insulin plays a major role in converting the excess of glucose present in our blood to glycogen which is a storege form stored in liver.. due to deficiency of insulin there is excess of glucose in blood .sweets contain sugar n fats that may damage blood vessels.. naturally occurring sugars in fruits and honey, or processed sucrose in table sugar,(simple sugars)increase blood sugar more quickly than grains, rice, or potatoes(starches or complex sugars). the present day market is being flooed by calorie free sugar products.. u can use any one of them instead of sugar..
