I also have a 31/2 yr old cat. Which is a male. He wasnt abused fortunately. I found him when he was around 3 wks old. Mom abandoned him or something. Anyway, he had to go outside because we have 3 young children and he had a habit of biting and bringing the blood. He still does me like that when I try to pet him. I dont smack him hard but I do smack him on the nose and tell him no. He used to be real bad about it but not so much anymore. I was also told by a cat breeder to flip them on the end of the ear. I dont know if this will help or not becuase of her circumstances. Good Luck and God Bless you for saving her from the pound.

Something more gentle than any real touching of the cat is to hiss in her face when she bites. That's what mother cats do to correct their kittens and it has a carry-over effect into adulthood.
Since you suspect past abuse I would use the Bach flower essence Mimulus on her for "nervous conditions in animals". That will be $16 from a health foods store. You shake the bottle well and put three to four drops on the fur between her ears. Treat intensely at first, four times daily for a week to ten days. You will have a whole bottle and it will seem to go on forever so you might as well use it longer.
The flower essences yield the best effect when used often and as they have a build up effect. The more you use it the better result you will see. So "dedicate" yourself to treating her for a week or two.

The meowing once you touch her decrease back isn't a demonstration of her being unwell. that is a demonstration of excitement and delight at a definite touch. yet cats oftentimes fall unwell of being petted. If she's throwing up lots, she could have a digestion concern, or a neurological one. Get her to a vet at modern-day. there is not something you're able to do for her at a house that a vet ought to not do one thousand million circumstances greater helpful. additionally, i don't care if she's not been exterior for 3 and a nil.5 years, cats at the instant are not exterior pets. they could consistently be saved indoors, as there are a number of ailments they are in a position to capture which will basically pop up later, to not point out a lot of infections, which contains sexual ailments, whether she's fixed.

If i was hyper i would say put her down but that would be plain wrong so i will give help advice
the best thing to do is every once in a while gve her a treat, and pet her, or get her a mate (male - so they might fall in love and u no wot) an if thye hae u no wot tat will make er feel so much better ad make her kind, thats what happened to my mates cat, butif that sounds plain crazy search rspca helpline on google o yahoo a go on their site and type in your problems with your cat and you will have dozens of answers, and if that dont work (if i was hyper i would say ur cat needs a brain surgeon but tat would be rong) go to your local pet and give tell them about whats happened.

Congratulations! For saving that cat! I think what you will have to do ( may run you 25$ ) is to buy a dog kennel and when he bites nicely put he in there for 15 minutes and about the 5th time he well learn.

kitty does not know when she bites too hard--you must teach her--i gently talk with kitty while i play--if bites too hard, i tell my male do not bite me. ouch. then go back to playing--if biting persists, i place a short length of rope i had tied into a knot with protruding ends between his teeth. he will chw on that. but my kitty s still teething.
yours is trying to see how deep to bite without hurting you--you do not have fur. she does--and you need to help guide her.
being rough with her will not help her because of her history--kitties learn with gentle talk and guidance better than with loudness and irritation. remember, they are just kids with bad ADD

All you can do is let her know she has nothing to far from you, say a sound like she is hurting you like owwwee. and eventuall she will know she shouldn't do that. Talk to her allot. Good Luck.
