Firefox can be used for most sites, even downloading updates from Microsoft once you have the correct plugin.
FF is more compliant with W3 web standards than IE7. That means FF renders the code properly.
FF has the Adblocker plug in which speeds it up even more.
FF is safer most of the time as long as you also use a decent firewall. For the few sites that it doesn't work well with, use IE7.
The tools and settings are all easier to use and more user friendly, such as exporting bookmarks to back them up, clearing history.
Since switching I haven't had a single tracking cookie :)
Mozilla work hard to plug the holes, no browser is 100% safe but FF is safer.

Theres also Opera!

None are better then others. It depends on your use. Firefox tends to be safer and have less issues, while IE seems to be hacked and have security issues alot. However there are several sites out there that do not support Firefox or any other Mozzilla browser. So if you do decide to use Firefox, remember to keep IE installed.

Firefox non of the doubt but ie7 is almost not quite the same as firefox. just missing plugins etc. Firefox is light, safer, and funner to use. IE runs heavy and there is new holes being discovered by the day. Good is that microsoft patches them fast.

Oh yeah and Firefox is open source

I switched to FireFox about a year or so ago and I haven't looked back; I even use the portable version at work now to avoid IE!

You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.com/ Its faster, more user friendly, easily customizable to suit your need and no problems.

Firefox. Conforms to web standards (CSS especially). Doesn't allow drive by downloads (websites install spyware on computer). Is extendable with all sort of plugins and themes.

Firefox is open source and vetted and developed continuously.
