I believe in some way they do, I know Christians who say there will be no animals in Heaven and most of them are not animal people anyway... But then there are Christians I know who believe we will see our deceased pets in Heaven, they are of course the ones with pets and who love animals. I also believe animals do because I have seen my own pets react to different situations in different ways, one of my cats reacted violently and flew at a woman I had as a house cleaner for a while, she hissed and lept at the woman to scratch at her. A couple of weeks later I found out the woman had been abusing her children and interfering with them. My cat seemed to know this womans spirit because she doesn't usually behave in such a way. My dog on the other hand seems to know when I am having a blue day and entices me outside with playful barking and jumping around and then carries on in the yard making me laugh. Through these things and many more I can only believe they are created with a spirit and soul and I can only believe that God would not destroy the bond that He created between animals and humans. I see beauty and gentleness in a cows eyes and collect ornamental pigs...... I love animals period and believe they are far more than we realize or some wish to believe they are because they are not animal people. As for your Tarantula, I'm an Arachniphobic so I can't imagine Heaven with huge eight legged creatures or I don't think I'd want to go to Heaven, but who knows...... No fear in Heaven hey, so maybe I'll come to love the citters then, I'll just put that thought out of my mind for now. Some people are connected, bonded to animals more so than people, I'm like that so I believe they are more than flesh and bone but then there are people who are frightened by or dislike all animals and they are the ones that will say Heaven is an animal free zone.

animal abuse may have some thing to do with the disbelief of animals having no souls or no feelings in my opinion. animals have souls just like i have a soul as well and if animal abuse is the cause of the disbelief then humans need to learn other wise.

'Treated like a dog' and cruelty are really different terms/actions. Animals shouldn't be put on a pedestal because we perceive them as being abused. Given the chance, most animals will leave you with a scar. Do I abuse animals? No. But, I have seen enough stupid people, thinking this or that cow/buffalo/horse, is cute, and tried to get close to them. It wasn't the animal that got hurt.

Good question, but no, I don't think so. Look at the way people abuse people. I wonder if the belief in certain people that they themselves have no souls results in abuse of animals, children, and anyone else weaker than them.

Unfortunately I think that is what has started a lot of that. I also think that the belief that Mother Earth has no soul has also lead to Her being abused by humans. I for one know better.

I think that the abuse of animals is disgusting. Some hadiths in Islam show how precious the life of animals are: for instance, an otherwise good and pious woman neglected a cat and the cat starved to death. The woman will go to hell for that (for a time).
And a man who had done some bad things in his life gave a thirsty dog some water to drink, and that one good deed got him into heaven, because it was considered so good by God.

I guess I've never considered that idea and that may be part of it. I think animal (and human) abuse is caused by mental illness in the abuser, and also, what they learned as children about how to treat animals.

NO. People have souls and they are abused! Even though animals do not have souls, we were given them along with the earth to be stewards of creation. We must take care of what we were given.

No. I think that some who abuse animals do so for their need to dominate and animals make good targets. As do women and children.
