yes they say tea ,the best drink of the day, But is it ,? I had a nice cup of tea one evening before going to bed , and had eyes like saucer´s the whole night, was impossible to sleep ,but got all the house work done & had a nice snooze in the afternoon , to make up for lost sleep.

Does it have sugar in it? Refined sugar will give you an immediate rush, soon followed by extreme tiredness or sleepiness. It seems to have a greater effect on some than others.

the effects vary from person to person my piano teacher said coffee made her sleepy and tea made her alert are you sure the tea you are drinking contains caffeine

caffiene is a stimulant (drug)
it should wake you up
but if you want to feel awake then you should get a good night sleep (8-10 hours)

If you're drinking chamomile tea then yes it will relax you.
Tea shouldn't make you sleepy in general.

When you eat something, your blood supply goes straight to your digestive system to help digest what you injested. Because of this, you get sleepy. And eating or drinking anything warm makes it worse

Not all tea has caffeine...some teas are even sold to help people go to sleep!! (I think camommile tea does that)
