On a turret CNC Lathe.They are made from hexagonal bar,drilled tapped with the thread and then parted off to the correct thickness.

well, if you're talking about the edible kind...i just happen to live on a nut farm...for real, walnuts and almonds. when the nuts are ripe, the tree shaker machines come and shake all the nuts from the trees. then the vacuum truck comes and sucks em all up into the truck. then they get hauled off to the processing plant where they're cleaned, sorted and packaged for sale...some are shelled, some aren't.
