My 7 mo. old kitty has been acting weird all weekend. Friday night I gave her a little bit of my chicken breast and since then she has had diarea and she has vomitted a couple of times... the vomit is just clear, sometimes milky white. She has been sleeping more than normal and isn't as playful. I don't know if it was the chicken or not because I gave one of my adult cats the same chicken (although he didn't eat as much) and he is fine... what do you think?

The kitten (by the way, she is in fact a kitten, she's 7 months old, not 7 years old) did drink some water yesterday (we made sure) and she did eat a little bit, so it's not like she would be super dehydrated... my boyfriend and I can be a little overly protective of our pets. About the food problem: we hardly ever give the kitties people food, there was just a couple of little peices of chicken breat (boneless, skinless)we gave as a treat, it's not like we were feeding it a pop tart or something. Also, my adult cat had the chicken and he is fine...

Cats are not prone to the same bacterium that humans are. Often cats will hunt and eat birds from the yard with no ill effects. That same bird if eaten by a human could cause a wide array of problems. Your kitten may be suffering from a reaction that may be an allergen. Since the information you gave is limited; is the kitten drinking water, has kitty eaten anything else etc.. I would take your kitten to the Vet as soon as possible. What concerns me the most is the lethargic symptoms you describe. This could be an indication of a much larger problem that only vaccinations can clear up. Good luck and I hope your kitten gets well.

Sincerely,
MCPO West USN (Ret.)

This is NOT a reaction from simply eating chicken, get your kitten to a vet immediately. Not only is she sick, but is probably dehydrated as well if she is vomiting regularly. They can administer fluids to help the dehydration and run tests to find out what is going on.

Your cat could be allergic to chicken or just have a sensitive stomach. I have a cat who couldn't eat anything but solid food and another who could have wet food along with dry food. All cats are different. Call your vet and ask them what they think may be the problem and if you should bring him in or not.

I have always thought if you have to ask a question like that, then yu probably should take the cat to the vet. Was the chicken entirely cooked?? If it was raw, or even part raw, it could have something in there a kitten is not ready to handle.

around my abode the words " back in debt to the vet " are a relentless refrain . Gizmo , broke her toe and with each little thing extra mutually it replaced into approximately $six hundred.00 ; final 12 months there replaced into purely one month with out vet invoice . . . until the subsequent month whilst her photos have been due . And , now I even have observed a 7-8 month kitten(gadget) that have been abused and now i'm back in debt to the vet , back! As to blame 'vendors' we guard our companions ; each little chum that I undertake I continuously tell them that i will pass each of ways with them and so I even have . ( it incredibly is a annoying element to assert see you later is it no longer ? T-T ) i like them and that i comprehend the sole love I even have ever conventional from them in turn . :0)

Well, as a rule, you aren't supposed to feed your cat anything but cat food, but alot of people do it anyway. Just don't give her anymore. Are you giving her milk, too? Because milk causes diarrhea and then they get dehydrated. Unfortantely, when that happens, they sometimes then die. If it were my kitty, I would at least call the vet and see what he has to say.

Not to sound condescending or anything, but people food is for people, cat food is for cats. And yes, I would take your kitten to the vet. When you get there, make sure you ask your vet about feeding your cats people food.

I hope your kitty feels better.

Take her to the vet. It could be that she got some form of food poisoning. There are certain bacteria in chicken and other foods that can be poisonous, even deadly to people and animals. It's possible that this is the case. Take her to the vet as soon as you can or it might be too late.

Yes, Id take her to be checked out. Vomitting and diorhea can cause severe dehydration and if she's been like this all weekend she might just need a little medication to help her get back to her usual self. I hope she's ok.

best wishes
xx

Well, gee, I think if you wait long enough she will either get better or die. If you care about her, you will take her to the vet. It might have nothing to do with the chicken-- she might have eaten a piece of ribbon or tinsel. In that case, if you wait, she will die. If that's what you want, just keep watching her. If, on the other hand, you want her to still be alive at Christmas, take her to the vet today!!!
