But if you're going to go more long-term, I'd have to say the Shoah (Holocaust).

I would say the bombings of the twin towers on 9/11 and their subsequent collapse. Some people said the Hiroshima bombing, but you forget that without the bombing, more people would have to die. The bombing was tragic, but it was necessary to end the war.

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings are good examples.
Pearl Harbor and 9/11 are other good ones.
My choice for the most awful event was the inquisition where several million people were murdered by the Catholic Church for heresy.
FYI Heresy simply means choice. They had chosen to believe something else than the Catholoc church found acceptable to believe in.

What do you think that Hirshima bombing was? It was part of war.
The 9/11 attack on the twin towers comes to mind as being a horrible event that still ingers to this day, just as many have not forgot the bombing of Heroshima.

9-1-1 the twin towers . did u c the footage. good descent hard working people freaked and jumped out of 50 or 60 story bldgs. children maimed,burned,killed. families lost, friends taken,hearts broken..trust stolen! it was not war until they asked for it! check out my 360 blog called attack on america 911 footage. it is a video that brings tears to the toughest ! it was a great day for me because i left for basic training that day and got to make a difference!
