there has been a lot of drama in my family recently and i've had to remove myself from the situation entirely.....it's really rather depressing....especially this time of year for some reason.....how do you cope with not having family??

mending the relationships is NOT an option at this point in time....for serious reasons/issues that i won't go into right now

every holiday that comes around is hard for my mother, she doesn't talk to her father..and won't talk to her mother for staying with her father....we don't celebrate mothers day because it's too painful, she has had to remover herself from her family....she knows in her heart it's the best thing for her....and for us kids, so that the unhealthy cycle won't continue,
we live far away from our family and sometimes i miss my grandparents but really i miss the memory of them and the "what could.should have been" not the actualy crazy time together.
be strong and believe that you are doing the right thing!
which is worse spending the holidays without them, or enduring another holiday with them!
spend time with friends, your own immieidiate family or voulenteer.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

maybe the Christmas season would be a good time to try and mend relationships. I know it is hard - sometimes you have to take the blame even if it is not your fault, just to get the relationships back on course.

I am in same boat..daughter's bf had a maniac spew and now no one in our house is putting up with his abuse. I cant see the grandkids and havent heard from them since Thanksgiving. He is abusive...he will not go on meds and maniacs episodes are getting closer. Funny how professionals who are dealing with the one child's delay development does not suspect dissociative disorder without meds....he preaches he has it...no one is paying attention...it is hard and empty. Ignore the situation and get on with your life...that is what people tell me to do
