I need your opinion on centerpieces. I was thinking, since my wedding is about 2 weeks after Christmas I could purchase poinsettas and repot them for the centerpieces. How would that look? Maybe alternating the colors, the albino looking ones and the red ones. Then after the reception the guests can take them with them. Let me know, please and thank you.

That is an excellent idea! It will give you lots of color and a lovely take-home gift, my kind of two-fer.

Actually, I don't think you'll even need to repot them; just re-wrap the pots in fabric or tulle or shiny paper, whichever suits you. You can get sparkly tulle very inexpensively at the fabric stores, and tie it with a cord or ribbon and just make a simple knot (tie the knot!) or bow.

Check at the greenhouses; many have surplus poinsetta and would be more than happy to sell them to you, even half price.

Best wishes!

Poinsettas would be a perfect centerpiece...add some candles around the base and you're good to go! If you're looking to give them away in the end, just have a small ice-breaker in the beginning. Say, the person with a birthday closest to your wedding date, at each table, will get to take the flowers home! That way your guests will start talking to each other to find out who has the closest bday...just get the DJ, or band, to announce the contest after everyone sits down.

How wonderful! I also had a December wedding! Here's what I used as center pieces. I saved up those Internet Cd's that you get for free in the mail. Turned them upside down with the shiny side up. Put a votive with candle in the middle. The light from the candle reflected off of the CD. I then took artificial poinsettia leaves and sprinkled them along the tables and used some greenery in between. Kept it simple and elegant. Good luck on your marriage!

I think two weeks after Christmas is alittle late to have poinsettias. After the New Year and stuff people start looking forward to spring and kind of want to get out of winter.

My brother had poinsettas at his wedding and I thought they looked really nice. I don't see why you couldn't have them after christmas. It is still winter!!

It is a bit Christmasy, but since it is still so close to Christmas you can get away with it, and I think it would look lovely!

I think its great if your theme is Red and white. Which by the way is a symbol of blood and bandages.

it is after christmas right? it just depends on the theme of ur wedding. but, maybe you could do the traditional red roses, and frost them.but to save money, frost them yourself.
