Is it worth the money? Are they improving in language, reading & math skills? I don't want to spend the money if it is a waste.

My son has a Leap Pad. He used it a lot when he was younger.....less lately. (He's almost 8 years now and reads at around a 6th-7th grade level.)

My middle daugher is getting a Leapster game system for Christmas and will get a Leap Pad for her 6th birthday in a couple of months.

We *LOVE* the Leapfrog DVD series. They are great for teaching letters, sounds and reading skills.

My 4 year old has the My first leap pad learning system. She loves it. It is a game for her and she is learning. We have the Dora Explorer Book and she loves it. We also have an Alphabet book that she loves and she can tell me quite a few letters of the alphabet and what they say(there is a song they sing). When she tires of one book, we put in another.

I am thinking about buying a second one for my almost 3 year old so they stop fighting over it!

My daughter had them and she showed no interest in them at all. I felt bad because they were gifts and I felt like it was wasted money. She's now 7 and an excellent reader despite not using them. She did however learn a lot from the Leap Frog videos, especially her phonics.

I bought my son one when he was in Preschool. He is in second grade now and still loves it. He is at a fourth grade reading level now. He was one of the first kids to start reading in Kindergarten. I would definitely recommend buying one! Well worth the money...

My children use the My First LeapPad and the LeapPad Writing.
They not only learn math and ABC's but following lines, shapes, colors and other things. My children love it.

Personally, I don't believe in it because although the kids are having a blast right now, when it comes to school, it won't be fun. It won't be just a game for them anymore. It'll be real and they won't know what to do.
