Because they know that some people don't think for themselves, and they listen to a preacher. So, whatever candidate the preacher likes is who they like, because they aren't free thinkers, and are just down right lazy!!!!!

Some use it to entice the religious and some use it against the religious. (see politicians using the religious beliefs of the other candidate to make him less desirable to the public through fear and ignorance)

It is a weapon that cuts both ways.

Well they seem to forget about the separation of Church and State-And there are soo many religious zealots who will vote for them only because they said i believe in your God w/ out even listening to what their stand is on important issues..

Because it works. Convince the voters that you're one of them, that you'll represent their interests, and you've won their votes.

The best way to do this is to whip them into a frenzy by telling them that their faith is under attack and they must "fight" for it. "Fighting," of course, means voting for someone who will "protect" their faith.
