Yes. When you have such agressively antithetical view points conflict is inevitable. BOTH sides are so convinced that they are right and that everyone should agree with them that they are unwilling to give even a little.

The same applies to the conflict within and between the various religions in the US as well. In all honesty there is little chance of a peaceful resolution to these things and eventually things will erupt into drastic action, ultimately ending in Civil War.

The real culprit in any conflict is extremism.

Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindu, Atheists, or whatever can all live in peace. I know, because I have friends who are all of the above.

However, if you get one person in that mix who is an extremist, then it all falls apart. It only takes one, because one extremist will make others extremists, both in their own religion and in others, who respond in kind. Lets face it, Christian extremists have bombed and killed innocent people, just like Muslims. The same can be true for any religion.

Being that there are two opposite ideals at the base of a persons total belief-there will always be a disagreement. That does not need to result in conflict. I can only speak for Christianity- but we are to love everyone- even those who disagree with us- so we shouldn't have conflict-but we still need to stand for truth. Atheist, on the other hand, feel that they must fight against religion because they are getting it thrust down their throats. As Christians, we shouldn't be doing that, though some do. I believe that peace will only come about once Christians treat everyone with love and respect while sharing the truth of God in logical and real ways-like we are supposed to.

No. We have nothing to worry from atheism. Our present conflict between Christians and Muslims will keep us busy until Christ comes again.

Probably not one where we are killing one another. There are far to many Christians out there that would not permit this, as well as far to many Atheists that would not allow it.

On an individual basis, probably.

As far as political conflicts? We are already having them. Atheism is a conflicting view on Christianity and vice-versa.
