I'm not supporting being obese but we should be able to see deeper than that.

That's unfortunately what our society focuses on, but I think that may be slowly changing somewhat. If modeling continues with the minimum weight requirement (and doesn't keep it as low as 100 lbs. or something ridiculous like that) then that might send the message. And thanks to some of the tabloids highlighting the uglier sides of anorexia, some celeb femmes are choosing to put some meat on their bones. Nicole Richie for example, but she needs to stop it with the vicodin and the pot and go for something higher than 85 lbs. (eek)

For me, there's no bigger turnoff than a woman with frail, bony limbs and a sternum that resembles a cheese grater. Women like Kate Winslet are immensely sexy and very attractive and speak out publicly about the whole skinny trend. An even better example is Nigella Lawson, the British gal who has the cooking show on the Food Network. She's in her 40's and has curves on top of curves, but she's extremely beautiful. So I'm all for the skinny backlash if it continues!

It is because the less fat you have, the more skin you can show, and as show-biz says "sex sells". The more skin, the more erotic.

The media then feeds off of the majority of the population, who obviously enjoys seeing more and more skin, and less clothing. The media "gives the people what they want", so until we become prudish again, the clothes will remain skimpy, and the "waif thin" look will always be in.

Not that I agree with any of it. Leave something for the imagination!

I think that the media WAS going that way 99-05 but is going back to the size 2 image again. Look at Beyonce and JLo they are both trying to shed what makes them so beautiful and trying to look like Rihanna
