It is definitely possible with dedication. After I had my second child I also wanted to get into shape quickly. What worked for me is I go to a spinning class followed by a yogalaties class 3 times a week. The cardio in spinning melts off the inches and the yogalaties is strength training for your core mussels, which leads to flat abs and long lean mussels:) But remember none of it will work without a healthy diet! Good Luck and Congratulations!:)

Spot reduction is a myth. There is no activity in the world that will reduce fat at a particular location on your body.
Athletic activity, keeping your target heart rate at a certain level, will encourage your body to burn fat all over your body at an even rate.
Your body does not burn fat in only one spot, ever. Humans store most of their fat around their midsections or rear and, as a result, are the last places on the body to slim down fully.
To find your target heart rate, there is a very general formula. Take your age and subtract it from 220. The resulting number is your maximum heart rate. To burn fat, you want your heart to be working at about 60%-70% the maximum heart rate.
This link has an automatic THR (target heart rate) calculator.

As for what activity: I'd first reccomend cardio: treadmill walking at a brisk pace uphill, one that supports your target heart rate is good. Other options are light aerobics, light resistance training, eliptical trainers, stair masters... the activity doesn't really matter so long as you're active!
The key, the magic bullet, is to do it CONSISTANTLY and REGULARLY. Quickly, you will feel better overall but may not see results on the scale, but over time you will see genuine results to your health and lifestyle.
I'm a gym manager and a personal fitness trainer. I've lost over 100 lbs over the course of 15 months with diet and exercise and have kept it off for over 2 years now.

Many patients ask me how they can slim down. I am against prescription pills because I prescribed them many years ago, and some of my patients became very ill.
I now recommend that people eat right and exercise. However, if they would like a little "help", I now recommend Hoodia (it's important to note that not all Hoodia works well, even if the bottle says "pure" or "standard".
The Hoodia being sold at http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills.php is in my opinion, the best product on the market. It's pure, no side effects, and it's only $4.97 for 2 weeks (yes, less than $5 !). My patients have seen dramatic results with this particular Hoodia.
