Has the doctor seen the white patches on the roof of your mouth and tongue??? This sounds a bit like a fungal infection. You should maybe see a different doctor for a proper diagnosis and relevant treatment, especially if the white patches are flaky, or scrape off. If not try a dentist. Dentists are usually very good with this kind of thing. Good luck and I hope it works out.

There may be many causes to your dry tongue but one possibility is Bell's Palsy which is damage to the Seventh Cranial Nerve. Depending on where the nerve was damaged a dry tongue ( along with a lack of taste sensation) may be the only symptom. Others symptoms include inability to move the muscles of your face (muscles of facial expression), dry nasal cavity, and or dry eye. Bell's Palsy is very common and often happens after cuts to the face due to shaving for example. Or it may result from any other compression of Cranial Nerve VII. People usually get complete recovery in about six months. But see your dentist to be sure.

it's possible it could be leukoplakia...i suppose, I havent seen it though but there are a few links to definition and pics in my sources. if this looks familiar you need to maybe see a new Dr. 9preferable dentist they are trained for these things) because he should know what this is. I hope this helps.
