My dress goes a little below my knees about mid-calf and is champagne with an ivory lace overlay. My shoes are backless and the clear kind with just a small champagne bow. My question is #1 because the wedding is outside (at the end of this month) #2 because when its cold my legs can get splotchy, should I wear hose or no hose and what kind if yes? I really don't want to look tacky and I think it may if I do. Heres a link to the dress >>> www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=1892&prodgroup=123 The dress goes to the models ankles but I think she is short, I'm 5'10

it is so beautiul but don't you think it'll be a little cold outside withg a short and strapless dress like that?
I really think you should wear pantyhose (skin colored) because trust me, you'll be cold without them.
Plus, it makes your legs look flawless!
Congratulations, good luck and i hope your wedding turns out beautiful :)

Wearing hose is a perfectly acceptable option here. There are lots of reasons to do it; they will give you a smidgen of extra warmth, they will keep you skin tone nice and even, and they help keep a smooth profile--your dress will flow better when you walk. However there are a few things you need to watch out for.

1-make sure that your shoes stay on your feet and don't snag or chew up your hose. With the harder plastic, see-through shoes, you get the beautiful wedding look, but you may also get sore feet and frayed hose. (If they are chewing things up...bail on them and go for a different style).

2-make sure that you can NOT see any of the seams on your hose--specifically the one across the toes. So, this would mean that you will not be able to wear "reinforced toe" or "support" hose. You can find higher end hose with a "sandal toe" finish. Also, you didn't specify is your shoes were open toe or not. There are some hose that are designed for open toe shoes. They have the toes cut out and a little strap goes between your big and second toe to keep the hose from sneaking up your foot. But these may not work depending on how "see through" the shoes are.

3-you can further ensure that you won't look down later in the evening and see an unsightly seem poking out by centering the toe seam well under the foot. Also pick a natural color as close to your natural skin color as possible. This is not the time to try to look like you got a tan by buying darker hose. If the nylon matches your skin tone, then any seams or imperfections in the nylon will not be as noticable.

4-Most importantly, once the hose are on and the day has started, forget about them. This is your wedding, enjoy it and focus on your husband, not your feet.

Good luck and I'm sure you will look dazzling.

wear the pantyhose...they will even out the coloration on your legs if they get splotchy, they will look smoother. my opinion only but i would wear skin tone color, any other color may not look right. the only way to really tell is to try the dress and shoes on with the hose. Since the shoes are mule type, you need to be sure you can walk with hose on...if it seems slippery..they have pads that go inside the shoes that help you from slipping around...they should be in the section of the store with the rest of the foot pads and gel cushions

I want to say that you can wear pantyhose because you will be warmer, ect, but fashion critques the world over know that one of the biggest faux pas is to wear panty hose with sandles or open high heels. I would really try on the dress and make sure there are no visible panty hose seem lines before walking down the aisle.

Wear hose, your legs will appreciate the extra warmth and you'll look better in the pictures.

I'd re-think the shoes. Mine was an outside wedding and I had a hard enough time walking with backs on my shoes and low heels much less without backs as you're planning. Hate for you to take a header on the way up the aisle.

I think it is very pretty. Just because it is advertised as a prom/pagent dress doesn't mean that is the only time it could be worn. I wore a long white dress of the rack and so did two of my sisters. We saved a lot of money what was better spent on other things.

If the foot seam of the pantyhose is going to show, then don't wear them. You can get pantyhose in a bottle. It's just a spray that you put on your legs to even out your colour. You can get it at the drugstore. Try it out before the wedding though.

yes - and pick a color as close to your nature skin tone so that it gives you an naked leg look without splotches. Avoid matching the dress because then you will look like a school girl.
