At work we drew names for "Secret Santas" and I"m the lucky one who drew the Boss's name. I need some help picking out his gift. He's only been working at this location for 3 months now, so not much is known about him.

Below is some information about him:
Male, likes golf, devout Catholic, 45ish, married with kids (youngest 15), new to Texas, photography hobbiest, moved from Louisiana, enthusiastic, and 5'10".

For Boss' day, we got him a calender and decorative cross. He liked them, but I don't want to repeat them and seem presumptious or give something that looked like I didn't care enough to be thoughtful.

I'm wondering what kind of nifty photography things one can get for $20. Or...should I get one of those "executive" gifts for his office? I thinkg most of them are pretty lame and he's not one to sit there and mess around on the clock. But if you know of one, please let me know.

Maybe I should call his wife? But I would hate not to get what she suggested.

Get him a box of tees and a box of knock around balls for the range. Combined it'll be twenty bucks. You can get these at pretty much any walmart, or proshop. Believe me, the items are so generic, that it doesnt matter where they are from. Just make sure that the walmart labels are NOT on the articles. He will enjoy these gifts most. Considering the weather right now in Texas. The winter time is just about the only time the wind isnt blowing 15 miles an hour.

A cruise would be nice.....

Seriously my employees usually get me gift certificates for a restaurant.
Golf balls are good. Easily wrapped too.
A nic-nac or something personal is difficult because people have various tastes.
I prefer not to receive items to put on my desk or in my office.
It sort of makes me feel obligated to display that item and I may not truly like the object there even though it is acceptable.
An oil change was a gift given to me once. That worked.
Catholic? Maybe an inspirational book from a local Christian book store.
I have a few of those. Makes for very good reading.

A Gift card to his favorite restaurant is always good or a gift card to the show for a movie night. New golf gloves or towel and tee's. I hope this helps. I'm sure he will appreciate anything you get. Good luck.

When I got the boss's name a few yrs ago, I got him golf balls. I know not very original, but hey, he used 'em. A golf themed picture frame would be nice. They have lots of golf themed gifts at most department stores.

I like the idea of the picture frames... but I'd tuck in a local map
with locations of picturesque areas around town... particularly the
areas where he can get the pic of the kids in the bluebonnets!

I think a gift card is the way to go. Mabye to a restaurant so he can take his family out some where for dinner.

How about an assortment of those scratch off lottery tickets? Get a bunch of different denominations ($1,$5, etc), wrap in a box and voila - instant holiday gift. :-)

You never know -- he could win money -- and who doesn't like that?!! :-)
