oh yeah, it will take a few days for it to really work, but mites are really bothersome, and then shes itching them on top of that and making them raw. my spaniel gets them (she likes to sleep with her ear in the water dish) and she shakes her head all day, she likes when we put the drops in tho, cause we put them on a paper towl or tissue and then rub her ears with that, and it itches them for her and pulls out some of the mites (and ear wax) with the towl, sometimes we even wet down a washcloth and put it in the freezer for a few minutes, i think the cold helps a lot too

The ear mites may have been pretty bad. 10 drops is normal, nothing to be worried about. Did your vet give you the ear drops to take home with you? They should be put in more than once, depending on how bad the mites are. Ear mites eat the dead skin inside the dogs ear, that's why your dog is so uncomfortable. If this behavior persists tomorrow, you may want to give your vet a call.

Yes, it is normal for her ears to be sensitive. Sounds like she has a real problem. I hope the vet gave you drops to use at home. Mineral oil will suffocate the mites. a drop or two in each ear may help. Hopefully it is just mites and not yeast. Another ear problem. I your dog doesn't start getting more comfortable in a few days, I would talk to the vet again. May not be just mites.

Yes, I'm not surprised that she is fussy about them when you try to touch them. They are probably quite sore from the mites, but you have to get the drops in no matter what otherwise the problem will continue to spread and get worse. If you have someone there who can help you, you may want to have them or you hold her still while the other person puts the drops in. You could also try having her lay on her side- that might make keeping her head still a little easier. Good Luck!

When I had my last dog, he would get these annually, he was indoor/outdoor and there was also another dog for a good part of the time. My dog would get them around this time of year, and they were rather itchy. I'd have to pay attention to when he'd start to get them, then get the medications early on to keep him from digging at his ears while crying in pain... I'm sure it's not pleasant.

If she's had them for a while, they're dug in well, and she's done lots of scratching and is rather sensitive to everything, just as if you scratched yourself raw, it kinda feels good while you're doing it, but afterwards, it's not really better and it's more sensitive.

Depending on where you're at in the cycle, if they're already infested (for lack of a better word), bear with her, comfort her, and let the meds do their work. If it continues to be really bad, call your vet to ask if it's normal, (and if the duration is), and you can ask for something you can give her to calm her down.

It's kinda like fleas, once they get going, even if they don't have them, they'll still itch at the phantoms..

Yes it is--it takes awhile to get rid of ear mites. try to keep her ears cleaned-up above the canal. Don't go in-just use a damp cloth and gently wipe them. You can use a ver yluke warm solution of water and peroxide to wash her ears out also. Use about a tablespoon to a cup of lukewarm water. Put a little bit in one ear at a time. Then when you are done--put her drops in. If she continues to have alot of pain--call your vet and get her back in.

First, examine the label on the ear mite field (Or Google it if he ate the label too!) See if it says "toxic if taken internally" or something like that. Then i could call the vet who prescribed the medicine. he assist you to appreciate what to do. in case your vet isn't open precise now i could do what somebody else mentioned and make contact with ASPCA Poison administration
