my son had his friend kyle over the other day, and i walked in on them playing doctor around eachothers private areas, if you know what i mean... penises.
he was playing with the syringe/needle toys i gave him for his 12th birthday, and i was pretty startled when i walked in on them.
should i spank him, or should i just take away his video games as punishment?

Why punish him? He is just a kid and did nothing wrong. Just talk to him. Boys do get their pee pee's touched when they go to the doctor so that is why they were playing that probably. At least it was a boy and you did not walk in on your 12 year old son having sex with a 12 year old girl or boy for that matter.

I don't think that you need to go so far as to punish him for being curious. What you should do is sit down with him and talk to him about it. If you explain why it bothers you then he will be more likely to understand why you think it is wrong. If you spank him, you are teaching him that violence is okay if you disaprove what someone is doing. Taking away videogames will just show that it was wrong, not why.

DONT spank him no parent should spank their kids who are over the age of 7
you should talk to him maybe he is just experimenting he is 12 and he's going through puberty you need to talk to him

I think you just need to talk to him. Not that I dont agree with discipline, but alot of chilidren are curious and play strange things. He is old enough to be talked to and for him to understand what he was doing wasnt proper at all. Tell him from now on he isnt allowed to be out of your site when a friend of his comes over to play.

niether...I think you should sit down and talk to him 12 year old boys are a little old to be playing "doctor" so I think there is a problem here that you should speak to him about...and I think for the time being kyle should stay home for a while...

i remember when i was younger i did the same thing, it's very normal. but, if he's 12, there is the possibility of him being attracted to boys, and there's nothing wrong with that. i think you should talk to him and tell him that he is too young to be doing that. i hope this helps =]

I don't know if a punishment is in order. Maybe talk to him about how that is wrong and why. He might not even understand its wrong. If he does it again then you might want to consult his doctor and ask what to do about it.
