I don't want to use the dog for breeding, just for a pet. Can travel within 150 miles of southern Missouri. Male or female, long hair.

Check trading posts, call the american canine council and ask for a breeder listing, and then call around to breeders. Breeders will often sell of puppies that they do not consider suitable for show at reduced prices. You don't really want a cut price puppy though unless it's from a good breeder as it might have nasty problems that come with puppy mill/ backyard breeding.

Well, you won't find a reputable breeder with this kind of price and anyone else (back yard breeder) will not be properly screening their dogs for genetic defects and health issues, which means you could get one that will end up costing you a ton in vet bills later down the line.

Best bet, for your price range, is to find a rescue group of this breed in your area or check on petfinder.com.
