My two kittens keep knocking over cups. They stick their heads in them dfirst to see if there's anything in it and if there is they knock it over then run to the next room to look as if they had nothing to do with it. Fortunately, their paws are always a dead give away when they have knocked over a cup.
How can I stop them from knocking over cups?

I've tried moving cups out of their way. They always find a way to them.

Keeping your cat off the counter is a "fantasy". In essence, childproof your house. Then if you hear something out of order; shout" what are you doing", They'll come running looking VERY INNOCENT. My Stimpy STILL jumps up to the counter, but she's more careful. After 13+ yrs. I've learned. Hey cats are like children; the more you say no, the more curious they'll be to learn WHY NOT. Good luck and Merry Christmas...

My cat does that too. She's trying to drink the water at the bottom. She only knocks them over if the glass is too tall, and she can't fit her head all the way down to drink the water...I just stopped leaving cups around.

I used to have a GROWN cat that would get its little head stuck in drinking glasses. Sometimes they just don't outgrow it! Try finding those mugs that have lids on them. That way, they cannot get into them in the first place. Pray they grow out of it after a while. Also, don't keep your mugs where they are unattended by an adult!
Good luck!

That is so funny! I have never heard of anything like this from kittens. I would start using only heavy mugs they can not tip over until they get it out of their systems. I think they will get tired of trying and forget about it after a while. Good Luck!

Our cats learned to behave when we used a spray bottle on them. (only problem was the bottles where usually empty caz my sister would always drink out of them) Now, if we just point one at them they know they're doing wrong. So try just squirting them with some water. And put your cups away.

Keep the cups out of reach. Kittens are naturally curious and will want to investigate.

Cat's/kitten's whiskers are telling them it is too narrow. They will drink/lap spilled water so their whiskers are not interferring with depth perception or narrow areas.. Put their drinks in a wide enough bowl and they will stop spilling. Then it will be a Purrfect world! Happy Holidays.

My sister's kitten does that too. We just put the cups up away from him, so he can't do that anymore.

you might just need to keep the cups out of their reach, unfortunately kittens are very inquisitive and into everything like children.

Get a spray bottle ,fill it with water. When you catch them in the act give them a squirt. They hate it and it doesn't hurt them. But they will learn their lesson.
